To obey and align with God’s heart with a deeper relationship with Him our high call and pursuit.

Objective

Using Psalm 103, let engaging a favorite passage of scripture lead to prayerful discovery as follows:

Meaning

What it means:

To put God first and Bless the Lord first, before our selves
Value & pray His benefits into the fabric of our lives
Esteem & develop our walk in the fear of the Lord.

Reason

Why? Because understanding the awesome abundance of God’s benefits farexceeds our current levels of expectation.

1. Benefits for all his children – 18

Point 2: God’s Benefits for Believers

Benefits for all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ  – verses 2 thru 10 6 Whos

  • Forgives & heals us
  • Redeems & crowns us
  • Satisfies & renews

Executes 

  • Righteousness
  • Judgment
Makes known:

  • Ways to his leaders
  • His acts his people

His character:

  • Merciful
  • Gracious
  • Slow to anger
  • Plenteous in mercy
Nots

  • Always scold
  • Stay angry
  • Dealt after our sins
  • Rewarded iniquities

 

Point 3: Benefits for such as FEAR Him

ABOVE & BEYOND BENEFITS

Verses 11 thru 17

  • Psalms 34

9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

  1. Job 28

28 And

unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom;

  • Prov 14  

26 In the fear of the LORD is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.

MERCY

  • Mercy toward them is great
  • Removed transgressions far
  • He pities them & Looks out for them special (V13-14)
  • Closer relationship – like his special children
  • His throne prepared in the heavens
  • His kingdom rules over all
LEGACY

  • Man’s days like  grass, flourish but  after the wind of life is gone and forgotten (v15 & 16)
  • His mercy to them that fear him is from everlasting to everlasting (v17a)
  • His righteousness to children’s children (v17b)
KINGDOM

  • Angels hearken when those that fear him voice his word.
  • Those that fear him become ministers that do his pleasure.
  • Works initiated by him occur in places of his dominion.

 

Point 4: Identifiers of those that fear the Lord

Verse 18

  1. To such as keep his covenants,
  2. and to those that remember his commandments to do them.
They keep his covenant & align w/& live by

  • His agreements b/w Him & His people
    • His promises to His children
    • His guarantees for the saints of God
  • They remember his commandments:
    • Familiarize themselves w/ them
    • meditate on and pray them
    • Reflect / journal learning & insight
    • Discuss in community with others.
  • Mindset to do them:
  • Heart of surrender
  • Reverential fear

Practice them in their lives

    • Ongoing lifestyle engagement

Point 5: Suggestions

Do your own favorite passage study with the help of Holy Spirit. Make it a part of your recurring prayer meditation protocol. Journal your Holy Spirit lead reflections, insights & developing understandings. Make such prayer-purposed studies long term commitments toward a more intimate relationship with God.

 Conclusion

God’s heart is for us to live with Him in alignment and relationship, our hearts, him first and foremost, filled with appreciation toward and for Him. Studies like this can aid your personal press for the calling and prize of familiarity and eventual remembering all his benefits – at least the ones in Ps 103. Yes, as covenant keeping, commandment remembering doers, we mature in our level of reverential fear of the Lord. May our maturity in prayer yield nothing less than His best – Throne-room access and kingdom rule – his angels hearkening to our aid  – for we’ve become his ministers doing his pleasure and our works among those of His dominion – in Jesus name – Amen!
